Automatic Objective Refractors Without Visual Acuity Capability

Automatic objective refractors are used by an ophthalmologist or optometrist to measure a patient's refractive error, which can determine whether they are nearsighted or farsighted. This information is then used by the eye doctor to determine the patient's prescription for glasses or contact lenses. Today's automatic refractors use the latest technologies to help ensure measurements are taken both quickly and accurately.

ARK-1s/1a/1 Auto Ref/Keratometer and AR-1s/1a/1 Auto Refractometer
  • Features: Large pupil zone imaging method
The large pupil zone imaging method enables the measurement of wide area refraction of up to 6 mm diameter and can indicate the difference between the wide area refraction and central area refraction of up to 3.5 mm diameter.

    SLD and highly sensitive CCD
The system combining the Super Luminescent Diode (SLD) and highly sensitive CCD significantly improves measurement capability even in dense cataractous eyes.

    Optimal fogging to minimize accommodation
Fogging allows the patient to view the target clearly and minimizes the interference with accommodation even in high astigmatism.

Easy VA measurement with glare test
The ARK-1s provides visual acuity (VA) measurement. A glare source is illuminated beside the chart and the glare VA can be measured.

Simple opacity assessment with retroillumination image
The retroillumination image enables the observation of opacity of the optical media of the eye.

    Patient-friendly accommodation measurement
Objective measurement of accommodation is performed with patient's focusing on a target which moves from distance to near.

    Keratometry measurement with mire ring
The mire ring is used to measure keratometry. It reduces eyelid artifacts.

HandyRef-K / HandyRef
  • Features: Anytime-anywhere handheld measurement
The HandyRef-K / HandyRef is lightweight and also has excellent weight distribution. Its compact design makes it easy to hold, balance, and use. Intelligently designed button layout is also useful in one-handed operation.

Full graphic LCD with 3.5-inch color screen
New full graphic 3.5-inch color LCD is 40% larger than the previous model. Clear screen design and intuitive icons similar to the ARK-1 / AR-1 series provide high user-friendliness.

    Supine position mode
By tilting the instrument 60º or more downward, it enters supine position mode automatically. When measuring from patient’s side, the cylinder axis is compensated by 90º, and is displayed.

    Melody function
For inexperienced patients like children, newly added melody function can be of help. It can ease patient’s anxiety and draw attention.

    Pupil zone imaging method
The HandyRef-K / HandyRef analyzes a wide area (Max. 4 mm diameter) pupil zone. By measuring the light coming through the pupil zone in a wide area, more accurate measurement data closer to the subjective refraction is now possible.

    SynchroScan Technology
The HandyRef-K / HandyRef adopted an excellent new measurement method; “SynchroScan Technology”. Measurements start when the alignment starts, and locks in the data when alignment becomes optimal as a measurement value. It provides a more stable measurement value more effectively and efficiently.

    Auto shot mode
When the alignment / focusing becomes optimal, the HandyRef-K / HandyRef gets the measurement data automatically. If unstable data is included, additional measurement automatically starts.
