MASTERKA® Nasolacrimal Duct Intubation Stent
  • Description: The MASTERKA is indicated for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstructions that are resistant to probing. Unlike the traditional “pulled” technique in which the stent is advanced through the nasolacrimal system and retrieved through the nose by pulling on the guide probe or thread, the MASTERKA has no metallic probe or suture attached to it and, therefore, it is not pulled out of the nose. Instead, the MASTERKA is pushed into the nasolacrimal duct and anchored in place at the punctum by a plug-like fixation head similar to FCI’s signature Monoka stents.

    The MASTERKA device consists of a silicone tube molded to a fixation head and pre-mounted on an introducer to facilitate insertion. The introducer is easily and completely removed once the intubation of the lacrimal passages has been completed. The MASTERKA comes in three different lengths (30, 35 or 40 mm) and must be selected according to each patient’s needs. Special sizing devices are sold separately.

Mono-Crawford Monocanalicular Intubation System
  • Description: A unique combination of the successful Monoka and the familiar Crawford lacrimal intubation systems. One end of the stent features a silicone plug that anchors the system securely in place at the punctum. The other end is the olive tipped probe that facilitates retrieval from the nose using the Crawford hook. Thanks to the anchoring plug, the single tube which is cut in the nose requires no knots or sutures. Stent removal is easy – simply grasp the plug below it’s collarette and pull out of the punctum. Self-Retaining Bicanaliculus Intubation Set
  • Description: Nicknamed the SRS, this new and innovative stent allows the physician to intubate the canaliculi in the office right at the chair with just topical anesthetic drops.

    The SRS is made of medical grade silicone and is available in three lengths 25mm, 30mm and 35mm (disposable sizers sold separately). At each end of the stent is an anchor-shaped head to provide fixation. Each head consists of two flexible winglets that fold inwards during insertion through the punctum and spread back out after passage through the junction of the common canaliculus and lacrimal sac, thus securing the stent in place. A centrally placed marking on the tube acts as a reference point and allows verification of proper stent positioning following insertion. The winglets fold backwards for easy removal of the stent from the ducts.

    Primary indications for the SRS include horizontal lacrimal duct stricture and punctal stenosis. Special consideration should be given to cancer patients on constricting drug therapies such as Taxotere®.
