Get Ready for Contact Lens Health Week

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has named August 21-25, 2017 as Contact Lens Health Week, and they have a variety of resources to help you promote healthy contact lens wear and care to your patients and community.

This is reportedly the fourth annual Contact Lens Health Week, which aims to increase public awareness and promote healthy contact lens wear and care. This year's campaign theme, "Healthy Habits Mean Healthy Eyes," reportedly focuses on encouraging youth to start healthy habits early for healthy eyes later, with primary messages focusing on healthy contact lens hygiene habits, proper use, care and storage of contact lenses and supplies, and regular visits to an eye care provider.

The CDC has a variety of online resources available to help practitioners observe Contact Lens Health Week, including a downloadable 8-page campaign promotion toolkit. The toolkit features links to campaign posters, sample newsletter announcements, social media messages, Web-based resources and suggestions for promotion and outreach.
