D-EYE™ recently ImageSelect™ as an enhanced application upgrade of the D-EYE 2.0 application, and shared the publication of a study comparing the D-EYE Retinal Imaging System™ with conventional indirect ophthalmoscopic methods.

With ImageSelect, examiners can reportedly convert high-definition videos into single images. Images can be edited to adjust or enhance images for clear and sharp final exam images of the patient. And through ImageSelect's save and share features, images can be stored externally from a smartphone and shared with other medical specialists for further patient assessment.

D-EYE and the D-EYE 2.0 Application can reportedly be used with the iPhone 5, 5S, SE, 6, 6S, 6+, 6S+ and i7. New Application Integration of the new iPhone 7+ camera technology is reportedly under development. And ImageSelect is reportedly available for free for all current users from the Apple iTunes store.

And a team of researchers from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center recently conducted a study to determine the utility in a clinical setting to detect and document ocular pathology in the pediatric population using the D-EYE Retinal Imaging System.

For the study, a reported 87 patients ages 3 to 18 years old underwent dilated fundus examinations by masked examiners using the video function of the D-EYE application, while indirect ophthalmology was performed by a pediatric ophthalmologist. The researchers reportedly concluded fundoscopic imaging using the D-EYE smartphone lens reliably detects the presence of fundus abnormalities and has good reliability in assessing c/d ratios.

The study was recently published in the Open Journal of Ophthalmology.
