 NJIT Professor Wins Grant for BVD 3D Virtual Reality Therapy Game

Dr. Tara Alvarez, a professor of biomedical engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), was recently awarded a $50,000 Innovation Grant from the New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF) to help create a 3D virtual reality therapy game for children suffering with binocular vision dysfunction (BVD).

Dr. Alvarez is reportedly working on a device and protocol for patients ages eight to 18 that would make participation fun for children affected by BVD, resulting in greater compliance for increased treatment effectiveness.
