Accommodating Intraocular Lenses (IOL)

An accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) allows a patient to see at different distances without needing to worry about using glasses or readers. As we age, this the lens begins to lose some of its flexibility, making it harder to change focus quickly. An accommodating IOL is designed to move just like the eye's natural lens does when younger, adjusting as needed when a person looks at something far away and then switches to something close up.
