Spheres for Enucleation and Evisceration. The new MEDPOR® PLUS™ Spheres combine the structure of standard MEDPOR Spheres with a bioactive glass (Bioglass®) mixture. The Bioglass component, mixed throughout the sphere structure, promotes more rapid fibrovascular ingrowth into the MEDPOR PLUS sphere.
MEDPOR is a biocompatible porous polyethylene material. The interconnecting, omni-directional pore structure allows for rapid fibrovascular ingrowth and integration of the patient's tissue. Bioglass is a 100% synthetic graft material that facilitates a healing response when combined with body fluids.
