Envision Honors Retinal Prosthesis Researchers with Award

Envision recently named Michael Barry, a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical/medical engineering focusing on ultra-low vision at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, as the ninth annual Envision-Atwell Award winner for research in low vision and vision rehabilitation.

Barry is reportedly being recognized for his research into the Argus II retinal prosthesis, which investigated how eye tracking integrated into a visual prosthesis may be used to estimate and at least partially compensate for changes in hand-camera coordination over time.

The Envision-Atwell Award is reportedly named in honor of long-time low vision research supporter Constance Atwell, a member of the staff at the National Eye Institute.
