Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute Receives $31M Donation

Jeffrey A. Cole and his wife, Patricia O’Brien Cole, have donated $31 million to the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute for the expansion of clinical and surgical capabilities, as well as an enhanced research and educational mission.

These changes will reportedly take place through a future expansion of the existing Institute, which would be named the Jeffrey and Patricia Cole Building. In 1999, Cole and his company, Cole National Corporation, reportedly contributed the lead gift that established the Cole Eye Institute.

The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute reportedly employs over 100 professional physicians and researchers who diagnose, treat, and investigate the entire spectrum of conditions of the eye. Each year, physicians at the Institute carry out more than 275,000 patient visits and more than 13,000 surgeries.
