 Leaders in Eye Care Recognized at 2016 AAO Meeting

A number of influential leaders in medical and surgical eye care were recently honored at the 2016 meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), including Dr. Matthew D. Davis who received the Laureate Recognition Award for his groundbreaking work in the study of retinal diseases.

Other winners included:

  • Distinguished Service Award — Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO)
  • Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award — Dr. Paul S. Bernstein and Benjamin W. Roberts
  • International Blindness Prevention Award — Dr. Van Charles Lansingh
  • Outstanding Advocate Award — Dr. Donald J. Cinotti
  • Straatsma Award — Dr. Steven J. Gedde
  • Artemis Award — Dr. Paula Anne Newman-Casey
  • Special Recognition Award — European Board of Ophthalmology
  • Guests of Honor — Drs. Stephen A. Kamenetzky, James A. Loreto & A. Raymond Pilkerton
