CenterVue recently unveiled its new EIDON AF as its next generation EIDON true-color confocal scanner that adds autofluorescence imaging capabilities to the platform's image quality, features and functions.
The new EIDON AF is able to obtain the same range of high-value information from multiple imaging modalities as the original EIDON, but has the addition of fundus autofluorescence to allow assessment of the retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) layer. This reportedly allows autofluorescence imaging to be easily integrated into the standard office workflow, and can be an important tool in the detection of retinal pathologies such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), geographic atrophy, macular edema, and choroidal melanoma.
