Zeiss Celebrates 200th Birthday of Founding Father

This year marks the 200th birthday of Zeiss' founder, Carl Zeiss, and the company plans to celebrate with many different activities and events.

The year's celebrations started this past May with the publication of Carl Zeiss' biography. Then in September, the company reportedly plans to launch an exhibition about Carl Zeiss to introduce visitors to his life and work by sponsoring the establishment of the German Optical Museum in Jena. The museum will reportedly include displays on the scientific history of optics and optical instrument construction, and will also host educational programs.

And the highlight of the celebration will be Carl Zeiss Day in the city of Jena on September 11th. On Carl Zeiss Day, institutions throughout the city located on the Carl Zeiss Route will be open from 10am to 5pm with special offers for the entire family.
