Abbott Launches TECNIS iTec Preloaded Delivery System and COMPACT INTUITIV Phacoemulsification System at ASCRS 2015

Abbott

At the 2015 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Symposium and Congress Abbott launched a pair of new product innovations. The new launches include the TECNIS iTec Preloaded Delivery System and the COMPACT INTUITIV phacoemulsification system. Read on for details on the two new innovations from Abbott.

TECNIS iTec Preloaded Delivery System

The TECNIS iTec Preloaded Delivery System is a device that allows a doctor to insert the TECNIS® 1-Piece intraocular lens (IOL) into the eye without having to touch or load the lens, minimizing the risk of infection associated with contamination. Traditionally, a doctor or staff member must manually load the lens into an inserter before delivering it. With Abbott's preloaded IOL, the doctor is able to insert the lens into the eye through a small 2.2-2.4 mm incision with fewer steps. This provides a more efficient surgery for the doctor and his staff and minimal opportunity for error in loading the lens.

COMPACT INTUITIV Phacoemulsification System

The COMPACT INTUITIV System provides excellent, efficient phacoemulsification — without sacrificing stability and control. Featuring advanced fluidics and multi-directional ultrasound, it’s engineered to deliver exceptional chamber stability, minimal clogging and dependability, all in a new, compact design. The COMPACT INTUITIV System is part of a complete suite of cataract surgery offerings designed to give doctors the flexibility to choose the technologies that meet their OR demands.
